Introduction
In modern day society, we seldom see or hear a reference to sin. Even in Christian
circles, sin is not often mentioned except from the pulpit or in Bible references. We have
lessened our awareness of sin by renaming the act with more pleasant and palatable
words. The results have been that there is a general disregard for actions that displease
God. As this new year begins, it might be helpful for us to consider some Biblical
references to sin and endeavor to understand their spiritual consequences. We will do this
by a number of different brackets of references.
In the Bible the word sinneth is found 22 times. Another similar word sinned
appears some 119 times. The word sins is found 172 times and finally the word sin
appears 448 times. Whether or not these words are of interest to us, they are of great
concern to God.

Conclusion
Without God's amazing grace through Christ our Lord and Saviour, we would be without
help or hope. Let us acknowledge that we are sinners, confess our sins to God our heavenly
Father and repent of our sins, turning from them to the paths of righteousness, for His name sake.
Let us live to the praise of Jesus Christ, Who gave His life for us and shed His precious blood to
wash away our sins (Revelation 1:5).
